Who are we?

The Pediatric Medicine Department is an acute pediatric department within Queen Silvia Children’s Hospital, tasked with providing care, research, and education.

We care for children and adolescents aged 0-18 years with general pediatric diseases. We also receive children and adolescents in need of highly specialized care such as respiratory diseases, metabolic disorders, neurology, liver, kidney, and intestinal diseases, as well as transplantation.

The department is located in the newly built section of the children’s hospital, where we have even better opportunities to meet the needs of children and their families for a cozy, safe, secure, and healing environment. The staff's needs for a good working environment that encourages learning and participation can also be met. In the new children’s hospital, we work according to the model “Patient closer to care,” focusing on the interaction with the patient and the proximity and involvement of both patients, relatives, and staff. We work in teams consisting of nurses, nursing assistants, doctors, and other professional categories based on the child's needs.

What will you work with?

As a nurse with us, you will meet patients with many different diagnoses. The work also involves supporting and involving parents in the nursing process. It is an interesting and challenging job where you constantly learn new things.

We want you to have a positive and secure start. Therefore, we have designed an introduction program that includes eight weeks of orientation. We also have mentor nurses who offer support in the clinical work. We are a workplace where everyone is involved in creating good and safe care.

Who are we looking for?

You who start with us are a licensed nurse with an interest in working with sick children and their families. Specialist training in pediatric and adolescent healthcare and/or experience working as a nurse is advantageous. You are prepared to take significant responsibility and can work both independently and in a team. We are looking for nurses for both day and night shifts.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will be part of the Clinical Foundation Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Foundation Year is mandatory and lasts during the first year of your employment with us. The clinical foundation year includes lectures, nursing guidance, and practical training of your profession at the Simulation Center. In addition, it also includes working in at least two different departments to broaden your competence.

In the event of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the relevant position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish licenses/specialist certificates.
